If you’re looking for the most beautiful creations made from nature, Mathew Robbins is your go-to guy. He has an incredible eye for color, style and design. I am continually impressed by his wonderful arrangements and his ability to work with Mother Nature by creating art out of flowers’ natural beauty. It doesn’t hurt that he’s the choice of Martha Stewart, either. You will not be disappointed in what Matthew will create for you. I promise. - CECI JOHNSON

Top Five Tips for Beautiful Floral Decor:

  1. Keep it natural: I believe flowers really need to be flowers when used as decor. Instead of constructing architectural or contrived pieces with natural materials, I like to focus on beautiful, seasonal blooms arranged effortlessly but elegantly to finish off a room or an event. As you can see in the photos from Lori’s wedding at Blue Hill, we used materials and objects that truly related to the venue and the season.

  2. Embrace the seasons: Allow the seasons and material to dictate your color palette and decor. If you want a beautiful, vibrant, rich color palette, definitely consider early autumn. You can fill your centerpieces with decadent fruits and vegetables like we did for Lori’s wedding.

  3. Objects of desire: Remember that vases and objects are just as important as flowers and can really dictate the look and feel of your floral arrangements. Lori loves vintage and rustic antiques, so I pulled items from my inventory of wonderful still life objects to enhance the elegant-but-whimsical table decor. We used farmhouse antiques and seasonal foliage, berries and garden materials to bring the room to life. I also incorporated vintage farm tables to add warmth, texture and a bit more rustic elegance to the space.

  4. Make the most of your color: A limited palette doesn’t have to be boring or limited to one or two floral varieties. As you can see, we used a somewhat monochromatic palette for Lori’s centerpieces, featuring rich jewel tones. To give your floral arrangements more depth, I always suggest using the full range of a specific color palette. You can push the tones from very soft to rich and dark to bring a little more drama to the arrangements.

  5. Inspiration is everywhere: I love to remind my clients to look everywhere for inspiration. Don’t focus only on wedding magazines or weddings you recently attended. Look at interior magazines, fashion resources and art. If you are feeling overwhelmed by choosing a color palette, spend a few hours looking at paintings or strolling through a beautiful garden. You will be surprised at how quickly you can edit your favorites! Lori wanted to personalize her wedding with amazing details. The paper items, such as the incredible menus Ceci created for the wedding, are just one example of the many options for personalizing the experience. These details also bring together the design and aesthetic for your event. Most importantly, remember to enjoy the process!
